We’ve tried and tested Cellucor C4 pre-workout to find out if it really is as good as they say.
We’ve had a number of people test this pre-workout whilst doing their daily gym sessions to bring you an honest Cellucor C4 pre-workout review.

Our Full Cellucor C4 Pre-Workout
As mentioned, our review consists of three separate reviews from Tubby Gorilla testers who will share their honest thoughts and feedback on the Cellucor C4 pre-workout.
Straight off the bat, this is a great pre-workout for beginners, if you’re looking for something with a powerful kick and huge pump, this probably isn’t the PWO for you.
However if you’re looking for something to get you into using pre-workouts, or you’re looking for a low caffeine pre-workout, or something to use in the evenings, this pre-workout is hard to beat.
If we were rating beginner pre-workouts, it’s not a stretch to say this would score full marks.
I did not feel an instant energy boost but by the time I got to the gym I was completely focused and alert, this pre-workout packs a punch.
It helped me to lift heavy weights (personal bests at the time) and I completed a long workout, without feeling completely drained afterwards.
This was my first time back at the gym after around 5 weeks off – normally after a break from working out I have to lower my weights a little.
I didn’t have to lower my weights at all, I lifted some weights I was lifting when I last went to the gym and in other places, I was lifting heavier!

I was completely focussed and engaged in lifting, I honestly felt great afterwards and did not experience a crash or any kind of shakes.
I didn’t feel exhausted after my workout either. With regular use, this could really help boost my workouts and help me to reach my targets. It does what it says on the tin!
I felt a slight pump from Cellucor, that could be to do with lifting more but I’m assuming it was the pre-workout.

Energy and Focus
Considering the low amount of caffeine within the Cellucor C4, it does provide plenty of energy.
It might not provide the huge kick and boost that other pre-workouts do, but it isn’t trying to do that.
It’s low-caffeine formula is a perfect addition to your workout to provide you with more energy throughout the workout rather than a huge buzz at the start of it.
And we quite like that.

If you’re looking for something with ‘insane energy’, ‘huge pump’ and ‘crazy focus’ this isn’t for you.
But again, this pre-workout isn’t aiming to do those things.
This is a perfect pre-workout for evening workouts, people with a lower caffeine tolerance and people with a smaller frame.
Taste and Mixability
I personally really liked the taste of this Cellucor C4, it tasted sweet with a little sour twang which worked well together. It reminded me of something from my childhood.
Our other testers agreed that this is a good tasting pre-workout, both saying it tasted like a drink from years gone by.
The Cellucor C4 powder mixed really easily, leaving minimal residue.
There were no lumps and the little bit of residue that was left didn’t really affect the texture. This is probably one of the best tasting pre-workouts I have tried so far, especially when considering the mixability and texture.
A lot of pre-workouts don’t mix well and leave residue or lumps, so Cellucor has done a good job here.

I didn’t experience any serious or different side effects to what I’ve experienced before – I felt a tingle on my hands and ears.
That is just a temporary side effect from beta-alanine.
It feels a bit like pins and needles, it didn’t affect my workout.
The tingle helped me to know when the pre workout had kicked in, it’s nice to know when the supplement is kicking in.
Aside from the usual beta-alanine tingle, the other reviews stated they experienced no side effects either.
We all agreed that we definitely felt more energetic during our workouts. This pre-workout made us feel more alert and helped push us in our workouts.
We felt more focussed and motivated to carry on, it prolonged our workouts and helped some of us reach new personal bests. However, it did lack on the pumps, not one of us felt a real difference in terms of pumps.
Cellucor C4 meets most of its targets, just lacks in the pump area. In terms of aiding in a decent gym session, it helps improve performance and ability.
It is easy to see that with regular use this pre-workout will improve your overall ability and fitness levels, pushing you to the next level. It is obvious to see that it can push you out of a plateau and help reach targets.
